The soul of Italy? What a strange expression. What’s that supposed to mean?
And then you come to Puglia for the first time and understand what I mean.
Italy is vast and regionally diverse like almost no other country. Friuli is multifaceted, with an Austrian-Slovenian influence, mountains, vineyards, and the sea. Emilia-Romagna is a culinary feast and a retro Adriatic beach hotspot. Tuscany is picturesque, elegant, and artistic. Rome is a living legend, and Campagna—with Naples, Vesuvius, and the Amalfi Coast—is the most beautiful proof that opposites definitely attract.
Oh yes—and incredible Sicily is practically a country unto itself. Colorful, loud, fragrant, wild, rugged, picturesque, and multifaceted. And then there’s Puglia.
Delicate, gentle, quiet, romantic, honest, simple, modern, rustic, paradisiacal. Touching the soul. But I can only speak for myself – so it’s best if you form your own opinion.
